Sometimes a cleverly placed Easter egg will miss notice of even the most astute comics fan. Such was the case for this sequence from 1977’s SUPER FRIENDS #5. In the story, the book’s stars participate in a fundraiser telethon. Another performer at the event should ring familiar for fans of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

And, for the first time since the strip’s end nearly three decades prior, readers get an update — even if only a non-official one — on their favorite crime-fighting comedian.
