Sometimes a cleverly placed Easter egg will miss notice of even the most astute comics fan. Such was the case for this sequence from 1977’s SUPER FRIENDS #5. Courtesy of writer E. Nelson Bridwell and artists Ramona Fradon and Bob Davis, the most famous and most infamous creations of Siegel and Shuster (those “mutual friends”) get their moment together in the sun. And, for the first time since the strip’s end nearly three decades prior, readers get an update — even if only a non-official one — on their favorite crime-fighting comedian.
