IDW has announced another volume collecting Superman newspaper strips.
SUPERMAN: GOLDEN AGE SUNDAYS, 1943-1946 will pick up roughly where the Kitchen Sink collections left off, reprinting approximately three years of Superman newspaper strips — most of which have never been reprinted.
It is unclear at this point how many — if, indeed, any — of the stories contained in this volume were written by Jerry Siegel. It is my belief Siegel bowed out of writing the newspaper strip sometime in 1943 due to his responsibilities after having been drafted into the U.S. Army as part of World War II.
However, with its release, it will most-certainly reprint the last of Siegel’s Superman newspaper stories from the Golden Age. Perhaps more research will come to light showing which stories were, in fact, his! Look for the book in December 2013.
