Super Future Friends, episode 38
Some podcasts publish once a week. Others, once a month. Then there are those that publish … well, whenever the hosts have time. One such show is Super Future Friends. Hosted by Adriana Ferguson and Kristen Van Dam, the show takes a sometimes irregular and always irreverent look at stories featuring comics’ first teen super-team of the future, the Legion of Super-Heroes!
The ladies have been absent from podcasting world for just shy of a year, but are now back with episode 38!
This time, they look at a Jerry Siegel-written story from SUPERMAN’S PAL, JIMMY OLSEN #72. In the nine-page tale, everyone’s favorite cub reporter is taken to Gion-El, a world seemingly inhabited by bizarrely transformed duplicates of himself. Is the world for real? What’s going on? And just how does this involve the Legion? Find out in “The World of Doomed Olsens!” (And don’t miss the ending as Jimmy gets a very special honor!)
Superman Fan Podcast, episode 264
After a brief change in format for his annual coverage of MegaCon in Orlando, Fla., Billy Hogan has resumed his regular coverage with episode 264, of the Superman Fan Podcast, with a look at two comics containing a total of three Jerry Siegel-written stories.
First up is SUPERMAN #150. The sesquicentennial issue contains two Siegel tales, beginning with the nine-page “The One Minute of Doom.” The somber story finds Superman, Supergirl, Krypto, and the residents of Kandor pausing for a moment of somber reflection of a very important event.
That’s followed by the eight-page “When the World Forgot Superman.” A tale so surprising that it was made the issue’s cover feature. What could have made all of Earth lose memory of the mighty Man of Steel?!
Billy then turns his attention to ACTION COMICS #284, containing the 12-page Supergirl story, “The Strange Bodies of Supergirl,” where the Maid of Might deals with the perilous — and always unexpected — effects of Red Kryptonite. Plus, Superman gives his teen cousin a very special gift that will forever change her life!
