The show’s premise is simple: Each episode, host Michael Bradley celebrates seven decades of the World’s Finest heroes by looking at stories featuring the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight, chosen at random mostly from the pages of World’s Finest Comics.

  1. Weird Al AND Encino Man? You are on fire. I still sing “Bedrock Anthem” whenever “Give It Away” comes on the radio. It’s a curse.

    I actually have “The Caveman from Krypton” in both the 80-page Giant you mentioned, AND the Showcase Presents volume. It is a great little tale, and you’re right, it’s got a bit more emotional punch than most DC titles of this time. Finger often seemed ahead of this time in that respect. Not all of his stories had this aspect, but his were more likely to than many of his contemporaries.

    I think you hit another nail on the head; DC comics of the Silver Age were all about HOW the hero got out of the fix. They were guaranteed to succeed, but it was all in how clever the character (or the writer) was in getting out of the given scenario. Since there was very little character development back then, a good plot and great resolution separated the men from the boys.
